Hi, I’m Socorro! I’m a data scientist based in the Vancouver area with more than six years of experience building data infrastructure for science. I care about making research data open, reliable, and easy to reuse, and about helping people reach their Eureka moments when they learn to work with it.
Most of my work happens around the Neotoma Paleoecology Database, a free, community-curated resource for fossil and environmental records from the last few million years. I maintain the database, design its API endpoints, and automate pipelines on AWS. I also build the open-source tools that let scientists access and contribute data at scale, and I teach Python and machine learning to working professionals.
Data infrastructure
PostgreSQL schema design, public APIs, cloud pipelines, ORCID sign-in, and automated DOIs for open research data.
